Please, use the word "conflate" around G. Grod. He loves it. Hee, hee. I'm pretty sure that the progression of variety shows was Sonny and Cher, Captain and Tenille, then Donny and Marie (and Dolly Parton may have been concurrent with them). I think Hardy Boys happened after Donny and Marie.

In our house, Monday night was the great television night. We ate dinner in the family room during the Muppet show, then watched Little House on the Prairie, then MASH, then it was 9:30 and time for bed. Ah, good times.

Oh, I'm the first one to admit that I'm likely conflating things in my mind. I also remember the Captain and Tenille variety show, and of course the Harlem Globe-Trotters live-action one. No way was all that on in the same season.

I, too, had a crush on Shaun, who was the non-threatening girly boy, as opposed to Parker, (FYI, Kirstie Alley's ex) who I think had, *gasp* chest hair. I thought Shaun was a very talented singer.

Erik, I'm surprised that they ran concurrently, because they don't in my mind. Shaun Cassidy was my third TV crush. Number 1 had been Batman (Adam West), number 2 was Donny Osmond (another non-threatening girly boy) who was supplanted by Shaun for grades three to five, when I finally moved on to having crushes on real boys.

I smell corporate marketing copy. Wait for the die-hard fans to buy and review it. Then wait for one who's somewhat articulate and able to think critically. That should show you the real measure of the show.

Wow, I am hit by a stray memory. We would watch the Donny and Marie variety show, and this show, as a family. Shag carpeting! Bean bag chairs! Popcorn! Whoa. (And on a side note: when you're five, the foam crud inside a bean bag chair is a little too similar to popcorn, until it's too late.)
