I picked it for my book club this year (it was a shelf-sitter), and didn't regret it. I'm sure it's no news to you, but it's a very dark book so I'd recommend having something light and fun on the roster afterwards (I was prompted to start re-reading the Thursday Next series after finishing)... perhaps The Fourth Bear! ;) I found "The Road" to be a pretty quick read, although whenever I had to set it down for real life stuff, I always picked it up again with extreme trepidation because of how chilling it was. Anyway, it gave me a lot of food for thought, and it was very affecting and moving; as a parent, I think you'll only find it all the more so. Gotta second “The Road”. There is no way I'll read any of the book on my TBR list at the rate that I keep adding them.
