At nearly 52 it is definitely true - less is more! So I am always on the lookout for make-up that enhances without that "Vegas" look.....this lash tint is great but alas, hard to find. When I do find it (in NYC) I will buy as many tubes as they have because I have a hunch it will not be a big seller and will ultimately be discontinued. Also, I highly recommend investing in a professional (NOT NAIL SALON) eyebrow shaping, waxing, etc. and buying the tools necessary to continue the look at home. A good brow will frame the face and reduce the amount of makeup required to look fresh.

I would email Neutrogena from their website. I found the product last spring on an endcap at Target, so it wasn't part of the normal assortment, and I don't know if it's still in stores.

Ah, MFS, of course you are referring to that mainstay of mascaras, Maybelline Great Lash, which has been lauded endlessly as the best mascara for the least money. I, however, always had smudges, so for me it was no bargain.

I'm 37, and have pared my routine down to tinted SPF moisturizer, blush stick, eyelash curler, mascara, highlighter eye pencil, and brow pencil. It sounds like a lot as I write it out, but ironically it looks like very little in person. My husband recently asked if I was still wearing makeup at all. I read recently that as our skin ages, we should look like we're wearing less makeup, though we may be spending as much time and putting as much on as ever.

I am having a brief bit of nostalgia, though, for when I used bright green eyeliner on top and bottom, bright blue mascara, and rimmed the inside of my bottom lids with navy liner. Ah, college.

I use "very black" mascara. It comes in a pink dispenser with a green cap. Maybelline? Cover Girl? I don't know. I give these nearly forty-one-year old lids a dash of greenish/brownish eye pencil (dutifully smudged, per one or another fashion magazine's mandate) and a flick, flick, twirl with the mascara brush. And it's over. That's the extent of my make-up session.

Two decades ago, heck, a decade ago? I'd be all over this product. These days, though? The only end cap that attracts my attention is one displaying a product my family uses at a price I can't beat elsewhere.

Times. How they change, huh?

Thanks for your email message about our "On the nightstand" entry. Master M-mv has, indeed, read and seen Black Hawk Down. One day I must write about how his interest in the Marines inspires in me both pride and terror.

Enjoy a terrific weekend.

sounds intriguing

my all-time favorite mascara is coup de theater duo by bourjois which i usually get at sephora

http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P12807&shouldPaginate=true&categoryId=S10510

i know a lot of US companies are starting to make this now too (one side white lash "lengthener", other side black mascara) but why would i switch now

i love this

and i once bought MAC mascara during a makeover b/c i forgot to bring mine with me. and i loved that too. but way too $$$ to make it worth it

of course i wear makeup ONLY when i "go out" so it takes me a year and a day to go thru a thing of mascara. i usually throw them out and buy new ones due to # of months i've owned them (in hopes of staving off eye infections) even tho they are only half or even less used up at that point
