After her recent visit, Mom told me, "Girl Detective is really good with those boys. She is a great mom. Boys are so much harder than girls. The three of you were NEVER as difficult as Drake and Guppy." Vote of confidence for you, sweet sister.

Becca--I am so sick of poop this week. For various reasons, it has been a poop filled week. Blech.

Woke up to a morning of diarrhea from my 3-year-old. We think perhaps it's a consequence of the candy rewards used to further the recent gains in toilet training. But it's quite the hellish way to start morning ... and I didn't have barf or puzzle pieces to contend with1

With two elderly dogs, an infant, and a not-quite-yet-potty-trained autistic five-year old, there are days when it seems ALL I DO is clean up poop of one variety or another. You gotta laugh or you'd cry.

And it's one of those things about parenthood you don't know until you've experienced it: poop will become a not-unusual topic of conversation amongst parents. Weak-stomached kidless folks, take heed!

I'm so sorry, but I laughed out loud when I read your post! I have had WAY too many nights (and days) like that. The fingerpainting after removing the poopy diaper in the crib morning comes to mind as just one entertaining episode of my life-as-sitcom. I hope he (and you) are feeling better now!

That just plain stinks. Good luck.

Everyone I know looks a little like me right now (pale face, dark eye shadows), the classic face of the tired parent of a sick child. I realized two weeks ago I've had to miss the same conference three years running because it is always exactly three weeks into September, the start of the kid sick season.

Take care.
