		<description>I worked in that used bookstore for a year, so learned a lot about used books, but maybe even more since then as a regular shopper. I always flip through the pages. I won't buy anything that's much marked or highlighted. I"ll also check to see if there are multiple copies on a shelf--sometimes one will be less expensive than another. I used to think hardcover was what I wanted for books I love for the durability, but as my gear-load increased with one then two kids, portability became a factor, too.</description>

		<description>I always think of my used books as "new"!  Granted, the used book store that I shop at tends to have many books that are in pristine/unread condition, so the whole "used" terminology might be somewhat of a misnomer in those cases.  Even if a book is visibly worn when I buy it, I kind of like that too.  It hints at it having had a long and interesting life before it got to me!</description>
