Yes, many thanks to NYC Bette for the wondrous sample. I am, however, VERY proud of myself that I skipped not just one but the last two Neiman Marcus beauty events. I think I have broken its hold over me. Easy to remind myself when that sample was but one of a jillion rattling around. The free samples seem like they're free, but somehow I always spent an assload in order to acquire them, and then didn't use them anyway. There's the occasional gem, like this one, but the signal to noise ratio is high in those gift bags.

All that being said, I will eventually have to buy mascara again, and since I'm a Bobbi Brown devotee, I'm going to have to venture into Neiman's. But I bought my last tube during a beauty event--just waltzed in, bought mascara and waltzed out, after taking a peek at the Marc Jacobs bags. I stood strong in the face of the dark side.

i feel most fabulous about this entry because i belive that girl detective received this sample from me, courtesy of my move to NYC.

G.D. - it came in a sample bag from Needless Markups during one of the beauty events. so that should be reason enough to go in for your freebies during the next one. (sadly, we don't have a neiman's in nyc...boo hoo! so i'm stuck with Bergdorf's, which guards it's samples like they were gold. i guess Erik was on the right track then...)

Just to put it in perspective a little, an ounce of gold is currently going for about $440 an ounce, and crack cocaine is hovering right around $25.
