Hey, there's another Erik? Cool... (unless I have some kind of Tyler Durden thing happening, thanks to the schedule and the work and all).

Congrats to one and all! That's wonderful news and and I'm sure your mental faculties are already more resilient. I predict lots of wise and knowing laughs in your house, during the next year.

Melissa, your comment made me smile, because I could detect the affection between the lines. And G. Grod sat undisturbed across the room, each of us at our own machine. Because of course it was your blog that penetrated the fog of my difficult post-partum time with Drake and made me want to claw my way back to being a thinking, writing, learning person. And of course that will all change when the baby arrives. But I've gone through it once, and I can go through it again, though it will be harder and different and perhaps longer till I get back to the place of physical/emotional/intellectual quasi-balance that I feel I sometimes am in nowadays. It's funny. The parenting magazines all feature articles about getting your body back, but not one of them mentions getting one's mental faculties back. Perhaps I'll write that one, and pitch it, and see if it flies.

"I think I’ll still try to focus on what I think this blog is about, which is cultivating a learning life as well as being a mom. "

Have I told you lately that I love you?

Heh, heh, heh.

I am teasing, of course. And I hope the above made you laugh out loud (as opposed to running from the computer calling for G. Grod).

Best wishes for a healthy, happy pregnancy.

Sorry I'm late to the well-wishing party.

Erin, I don't think I'll blog about the pregnancy as much or in as much detail as I did at Mama Duck. I started that blog as an outlet for all the "I can't believe this" stuff (like the constant runny nose, and "all day every day" sickness rather than morning sickness) and because we didn't tell folks for the first trimester. Now that I've been there and done that, and also know that there are lots of people blogging about it, I think I'll still try to focus on what I think this blog is about, which is cultivating a learning life as well as being a mom.

Congrats! I'm very excited for you. You were only a few weeks behind me when you started Mamaduck (Lissa's B-Day is the 8th). I JUST ushered in the first two days of my third trimester with more morning sickness I was ASSURED would go away at the beginning of the second trimester....rriiiigggghhhttt.

Congratulations, even if congratulating you is weird! It's wonderful news. Will you be blogging about this pregnancy like you did with Drake over at Mama Duck? I hope so. :)
