When my grandfather was dying in the hospital, my mom picked me up from school and gave me a 45 of the song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head" by BJ Thomas, which was very popular then and was my favorite song at the time. It was odd for her to give me an unexpected gift like that, and the connection has always stuck with me. In a good way, though. As in, I knew she was trying to soften the blow that was about to come.</description>
