		<description>I never thought about the influences of Faulkner on Steinbeck. Interesting.  However, last year I read Germinal by Emile Zola and discussed it with a group, and we all agreed that Steinbeck must have read it.  I won't say any more for fear of spoilers, but it's one of the best books I've ever read.</description>
