Was that Elaine saying Get! Out! I use that phrase quoting Eddie Murphy from Raw. In the writings of Judaism, a midrash is a text/story that explains something weird from the Hebrew Bible. The Odyssey feels like one extended midrash of Odysseus on why I got home so late, honey, and why my friends are all dead.

But that said, I've always wanted to revisit it, and it's been easier to do than I thought. So thanks again!

Well, thanks for the answer and thanks for doing it. Sorry it isn't lighting a fire like some of our earlier readalongs. I think the knowledge will be helpful but not crucial for "Ulysseus," which might be part of the problem. I'm also afraid "Ulysseus" will be a lot of household info like we had this time. But transitions, especially ones done in parallel, are needed to move on to the action-packed ending. I think you have something with Elaine Benes comparison. In fact, a modern version might just be titled "Get! Out!"
