Cameras and Photography

Anthony Lane gushes over Leica cameras at the New Yorker, while Scott Beale from Laughing Squid anoints the Fuji Finepix F50SE as his favorite digital point-and-shoot model, ahead of the Leica-lensed Panasonic Lumix. (Links from Arts and Letters Daily and Boing Boing, respectively)

i think leica lenses are without a doubt the best - and almost all the other brand name camera makers will use them in one camera or another - but not necessarily their camera bodies. i.e., my old (10 years old maybe?) digital point and shoot which i rarely use anymore is a konika revio / not a big name brand / but it has a leica lens and takes much better pictures that the comparable canon elphs that came out at the same time as it did (since then the elphs have upgraded to leica lenses).

fuji & panasonic i would generally class at about the same level (lens and/or bodies). good, generally quality workmanship, brands, slightly below canon & nikon.
